Neot Hovav

Art across an industrial landscape.

Neot Hovav brings together a series of separate projects by Avi Tal / SPINE B7 across the Eco Park industrial complex. From long building facades to industrial structures, each work responds to its own site, scale and surroundings.

The landscape mural at the ADAMA plant is one part of this wider body of work. The projects are gathered here as a collection, with their individual stories and painting processes.

A flag caught in the wind.

In December 2024, Avi returned to Neot Hovav Eco Park for his latest commission with the council: transforming an infrastructure cover on its new building. The tall panel was visible from the road, and the council suggested painting an Israeli flag on it. Avi embraced the idea and gave it movement, with flowing contours, folds and shadows that suggest fabric caught in the wind.

Extending approximately 22 metres in height, the painting turns a practical architectural surface into an illusion of a hanging fabric flag. Seen from the road, the blue and white forms and carefully painted shading make the rigid cover appear soft and moving.

Avi brought his father along to work on this project. Sharing the experience made it an especially enjoyable and personal chapter in his ongoing work at Neot Hovav.

ADAMA · A landscape across the factory wall.

At the ADAMA chemical plant, Avi painted a sweeping landscape across a large corrugated facade: green fields, a spreading tree and open blue skies. The long wall gives the scene room to unfold, creating a painted horizon among the pipework, steel frames and everyday activity of the plant.

Working at this scale meant building broad areas of colour before developing the foliage, clouds and depth of the fields. Igor Mikucki joined Avi as a painting assistant on this project, helping to paint and fill the larger colour areas.

This mural is one of many walls and structures Avi has painted throughout Neot Hovav Eco Park. The photographs follow it from the work platform and early painted layers to the completed landscape within its industrial setting.

Teva Pharmaceuticals · Science in colour.

Created for Teva Pharmaceuticals at Teva Tech in Neot Hovav, this expansive mural brings imagery of science, the human body and industry together across a long wall. A central human figure is surrounded by colourful geometric rings, while gears, laboratory glassware and organic forms extend across the composition.

Bold blocks of colour connect the different images into a continuous work within the industrial setting. The mural forms another part of Avi Tal / SPINE B7’s collection of projects across Neot Hovav Eco Park.

Makhteshim · The eye.

A monumental eye fills the facade of the Makhteshim chemical plant. Pink, turquoise and green petals surround the detailed iris and lashes, bringing a vivid organic image into the steelwork and pipework of the industrial site.

An early underwater world.

One of Avi’s earliest projects at Neot Hovav, remembered as his second mural there, wraps industrial tanks in an underwater scene. Fish, rays and sharks move through layers of blue, following the curved surfaces and connecting the separate structures into a marine panorama.

Flowers at the former council entrance.

Opposite the council’s former entrance, a flower mural borrows the visual language of macro photography. Detailed purple blooms stand against softly blurred flowers and a green background, creating the shallow depth of field of a close-up photograph on an architectural surface.

Phibro / Koffolk · Water on a monumental scale.

Three large water tanks, nearly four storeys high, became surfaces for sea imagery and the movement of water. Turquoise shallows, fish and a distant island appear alongside a dramatic splash painted around a cylindrical tank. The scale allows these scenes to be read from beyond the plant fence.

A landscape around a biological-waste tank.

A separate project brings green fields and open skies to a biological-waste tank. The landscape follows the broad circular surface above the supporting structure, carrying a continuous horizon around an everyday piece of industrial infrastructure.
